– Bright purple. Aromas of black currant, cherry preserves, vanilla and licorice, accompanied by smoke and floral accents that build in the glass. Deeply concentrated yet nervy on the palate, offering juicy black and blue fruit flavors that show excellent clarity and spicy back-end lift. Finishes smooth, floral and impressively long, displaying a hint of cola and fine-grained, harmonious tannins. The blend of power and elegance here is pretty compelling. — Josh Raynolds

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Shiraz Basket Pressed has a waft of cedar poking through on the nose over a core of ripe black cherries, cassis and mocha, plus wafts of licorice and cloves. Very big, rich, full-bodied and opulent in the mouth, the oak really needs time to integrate, yet the firm, ripe structure and concentration suggestion this is built for the long-haul.

Description
Impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark red black hue. Heady scents of aniseed, ripe black cherries and toasty vanillin oak evolve from the glass with ensuing mocha and spice notes. The decadently rich, high octane palate is awash with aniseed, ripe black cherry and blackberry flavours infused with toasty vanillin oak. Spicy peppered finish. Despite the lofty alcohol there’s good balance with just a trace of heat evident. Velvety yet structural tannins. Long powerful aftertaste of aniseed, black cherries, toasty vanillin oak and spicy pepper.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc 15.9%
